Julia has had a lifelong passion for helping people through all of the reproductive phases in their lives. She completed a Masters of Science degree in Nursing at Columbia University, and has been practicing as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for 10 years, working with many different populations throughout New York State providing obstetric and gynecologic care. She has spent much of her career helping people through infertility, gynecologic disorders, menopause, pre and post-natal care, and contraceptive management.
After noticing a gap in psychiatric services that understood the impact of reproductive experiences, she completed a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree at NYU. She completed clinical training at Columbia's integrated women's mental health program, which is embedded in an OB/GYN department, as well as observing clinical practice with Rebecca Feldman. She has also completed several perinatal psychiatry training courses through Postpartum Support International and MGH's Center for Women's Mental Health.
Julia brings her women's health experience into her work at Brooklyn Parent Support where in addition to managing psychiatric medications she explores the impact of hormonal changes on mental health and prescribes hormonal treatments when appropriate. She utilizes a person-centered, integrated approach to care, working individually to find the best treatment options for each person's unique situation.
