
Dr. Leslie Peña-Sullivan is a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) licensed clinical social worker in New York and Connecticut who specializes in perinatal mental health, trauma, and culturally responsive care. She works with individuals navigating pregnancy and postpartum adjustment, anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, trauma, and major life transitions.
As the daughter of immigrants, Dr. Peña-Sullivan has particular expertise supporting first- and second-generation adults exploring bicultural identity, family expectations, intergenerational patterns, and the challenges of balancing multiple cultural worlds. Her approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Dr. Peña-Sullivan earned her Doctorate in Social Welfare from New York University, where her scholarship focused on trauma and acculturative stress within immigrant communities. She completed advanced clinical training at the Yale Child Study Center and currently teaches graduate social work courses at New York University and Quinnipiac University. Her clinical work is informed by both her academic background and extensive experience supporting individuals and families through periods of transition, healing, and growth.
